The Aire at Gargrave, North Yorkshire
The river rises in the Aire Head near Malham. The Aire flows through the West Yorkshire countryside, the carbon- rich Airedale and industry as well as the industrial city of Leeds and flows Airmyn ( myn is the old English word for river mouth ) in the Ouse.
A portion of the river is channeled and is called Aire and Calder Navigation.
