River Bandon

The Bandon River ( Irish: Abhainn na Bandan, dt possibly: "Goddess " ) is a river in County Cork in the southwest of Ireland.

The Bandon River rises in the southern foothills of the Shehy Mountains in west County Cork, about 8 km west of Dunmanway, and flows over a length of 72 km in an easterly direction to terminate at Kinsale in the Celtic Sea. It flows through the towns of Dunmanway here, Ballineen, Enniskean, Bandon and Innishannon. The tidal estuary subjected extends over about 15 miles from Innishannon to Kinsale Harbour ( Cuan Chionn tSáile ).

The river is known for its excellent trout and salmon resources.
