The Exe (English: River Exe ) is a river in south-west England.

Course

The Exe rises on the eastern flank of the Exmoor Forest in the Exmoor National Park in the north- west of the county of Somerset. The source is located only 9 kilometers away from the south coast of the Bristol Channel, but the Exe flows southeast before turning in Exton to the south. Its mouth is located at Exmouth on the south coast of the county of Devon in the English Channel and is designed as a ten -kilometer estuary. This estuary is located in an estuary, a once deep into the terrain incised river valley that was flooded in the post-glacial period the sea.

Numerous villages and cities along the river are named after the Exe, including Exford, Up Exe, Nether Exe, Exwick, Exton, Exebridge, Exminster, Exeter and Exmouth. Another significant town is Tiverton.
