The Réserve écologique de la Rivière -aux- Brochet is furnished in 1999, 126 ha reserve in the south of the Canadian province of Quebec 3 km east of Venise -en -Québec.

It extends to the mouth of the Rivière aux Brochet in Lake Champlain and there protects one of the last natural river banks in the area of ​​the lake, and the Baie Mississippi. It is one of the municipalities of Saint -Armand and Saint- Pierre -de- Véronne -à- Pike - River, which in turn belong to the county of Brome - Missisquoi community.

The reserve is located 29 to 31 m above sea level and is located entirely within the floodplain of the river and Lake Champlain. Beyond the sand deposits are found silt and clay minerals on which one up to 2 m thick layer of organic matter has been deposited. The result was a swamp area where the native species red maple, black and red ash thrive, plus gray alder and holly. Closer to ground ferns, especially Osmunda claytoniana. Away from the swamp is dominated by silver maple and red ash, balsam fir, and American elm.

After a series of devastating floods the dense Rotahornbestände were thinned. Sedge plants, Narrow Cattail, Branched bur-reed, but also Kalmus, flowering rush ( Butomus umbellatus ) have since been more spread out.

76 bird species were detected in the protected area, such as passerines or the American bittern, an endangered species Six Froschlurcharten and four turtle species live here, where three types, namely the leopard frog, the maps - bump turtle and the spiny softshell turtle are considered endangered. There are also numerous species of fish.
