Rivière du Nord (Laurentides)

Rivière du Nord in Piedmont

The Rivière du Nord ( for "River of the North" in French) is a 137 km long left tributary of the Ottawa River in the Laurentides region of the Canadian province of Quebec.

It has its origins in the Lac Brûlé at Sainte -Agathe -des- Monts in the Laurentians. It flows through the Laurentian region north-west of Montreal. He passed the places Piedmont and Prévost, the towns of Saint- Jérôme and Lachute and leads finally about 50 km west of Montreal from the north to the Ottawa River.

The oldest bridge over the river was ( now part of the town Prévost ) built by William Shaw ( 1805-1894 ) near the settlement Shawbridge.
