Rob Jones (footballer born 1979)

Robert William " Rob" Jones ( born November 3, 1979 in Stockton -on-Tees, County Durham ) is an English footballer who plays in the service of the English third division side Doncaster Rovers.

Life

England

Jones first worked until 2003 at FC Gateshead in amateur football and worked part-time as a sports teacher. 2003 then took place but the change to the then third division club Stockport County. Jones stayed here a year and finished the season with his club of the 19th place in the table. That same season he was briefly loaned to Macclesfield Town, graduated here but just a game. In 2004 he moved to Grimsby Town from The Football League Two. In the first season, Jones was rarely used, Grimsby Town reached the 18th place in the table. In his second season at Grimsby was Jones integral part of the starting eleven and has been with his club fourth. In the same season Grimsby Town had turned in Football League Cup Tottenham Hotspur 1-0, but was then failed to Cheltenham Town.

Scotland

In June 2006, the British signed a four year contract with Hibernian. Half a year later, in January 2007, Jones was appointed captain of the Hibs. Kevin Thomson had left the club for Glasgow Rangers. In the final of the Scottish League Cup in 2007, which was won 5-1 against FC Kilmarnock, the defender scored the 1-0. Jones was very popular with the fans of Hibernian Edinburgh so created some followers an original song with the melody of the song the band Spandau Ballet Gold for Rob Jones.

Back in England

At the end of the 2008/ 09 Jones has been associated with a number of English second division in conjunction, including Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City and Swansea City. For an undisclosed sum known he eventually joined Scunthorpe United, who had risen straight from the third division.
