Robbie Middleby

Robert " Robbie" Middleby ( born August 9, 1975 in Newcastle, New South Wales ) is an Australian former football player and since 2011 CEO of the Newcastle United Jets FC.

Club career

Middleby played 1993-2004 for five different clubs ( Newcastle Breakers, Wollongong Wolves, Auckland Kingz, Carlton SC, Newcastle United) in the National Soccer League ( NSL) and won with the Wolves in 2001 with a 2-1 win over South Melbourne FC the Australian Championship. Between 1996 and 1999 he played for three years at the German second division KFC Uerdingen 05, but only came to a total of 27 missions.

After the dissolution of the NSL to the end of the 2003/04 season he signed a contract in early 2005 when the newly formed A- League club Sydney FC. With Sydney he won the Oceania Club Championship 2004/ 05 and took part in the FIFA Club World Championship 2005, where he but did not play. His first season in Sydney ended with winning the championship with a 1-0 win over the Central Coast Mariners, Middleby came during the season under coach Pierre Littbarski but usually only to part stakes.

Under his successor, Terry Butcher, the on the right side of versatile players became a team regular despite being in the season with a broken collarbone early failed two months. From his appearance, he was elected to the end of the season within the Association Player of the Year. In October 2008 it was announced that he will move to the 2009/10 season for an expansion team North Queensland Fury. He ended his career as a footballer.

Since 2011 he has been president of the Newcastle United Jets FC.

National

In 1995, Middleby part with the Australian U -20 team at the Junior World Championship in Qatar. He stormed it on the side of Mark Viduka and reached the catchment with the team to the quarterfinals. There you failed with 1:2 after extra time in Portugal.

For the finals of the OFC Nations Cup 2002, he was first appointed to the Australian national team and came in the course of the tournament to a total of five appearances, including in the 0-1 defeat in the final against hosts New Zealand. The five tournament games were Middlebys only national missions.
