Robert Clark Jones

Robert Clark Jones (* June 30, 1916 in Toledo, † 26 April 2004) was an American physicist and worked in the field of optics.

Jones studied at Harvard University and received his PhD title in 1941. Until 1944 to 1982 he worked at Bell Labs and then at Polaroid.

In a series of publications 1941-1956 he worked out a mathematical method to describe polarized light: the Jones vectors.
