Robert Dewar

Robert Berriedale Keith Dewar ( born June 21, 1945 in Oxford ) is a computer scientist.

Biography

He was born the son of Michael JS Dewar and his wife Mary. This emigrated in 1959 to the United States.

In 1964, the Bachelor's degree at the University of Chicago, and in 1968 the Ph.D. there. During the same year he became an assistant professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology. In 1975 he went to New York University where he was Professor of Computer Science from 1976 to 2005. During this time he contributed posts to SNOBOL4, Ada and SETL. 1994-97 he was also an adjunct professor at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences of New York University. In 1994 he co-founded a software company, where he was Chief Executive Officer until today.

He is married to Karin Anderson, with whom he has two children.
