Robert Hale (bass-baritone)

Robert Hale ( born August 22, 1943 in Kerry Greenville, Texas ) is an American opera singer ( bass-baritone ).

Life

His voice teachers belonged to the famous tenor Léopold Simoneau. He made his debut in 1965 in Denver and then sang at the New York City Opera before he came to Europe, where he was first engaged at the opera houses in Frankfurt, Zurich and Wiesbaden. His initial roles from the bel canto repertoire he gave after he embodies with great success in 1978 in Wiesbaden, the title role in "The Flying Dutchman " in favor of roles in the operas of Richard Wagner. In this subject, he made an international career. He is regarded as one of the leading interpreters of the role of Wotan in Wagner's " Der Ring des Nibelungen " of his time. In this role he performed at the German Opera Berlin, the Vienna State Opera, in Paris, Munich, Hamburg, Cologne, Tokyo, Sydney, San Francisco, Washington, and at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Robert Hale until 2005 he was married to the Danish soprano Inga Nielsen. Since 2012, he is married to the American soprano Julie Davies, with whom he has worked since 2009.
