Cone of emotion

Plutchik assumes in his theory of emotion, that emotions have a genetic basis and control the adaptation of behavior. He identifies eight basic emotions and summarized them in a three-dimensional model together. The eight emotions can be arranged on a cone and are due to graduate this intensity. Towards the peak, the emotions are not as intense and are therefore also not so easy to distinguish. Opposing emotions are conflicting emotions juxtaposed emotions are similar. So there are the pairs of opposites joy - Sadness, Anticipation - surprise, dislike - confidence, resentment - fear. All other emotions are combinations of primary emotions, here primary dyads result ( similar emotions mix ) and secondary dyads ( dissimilar, not directly adjacent emotions mix ).
