Robert Sedgewick (computer scientist)

Robert Sedgewick ( born December 20 1946) is an American computer scientist and author of the book series Algorithms.

In the series, the following issues have been published:

  • Algorithms ( in Pascal)
  • Algorithms in C
  • Algorithms in Modula -3
  • Algorithms in C
  • Algorithms in Java

In the series, the most important non- numerical and semi- numerical algorithms of computer science are presented, discussed and analyzed for their computation time and memory requirements down. If a problem several algorithms exist, they are compared in their performance and in their optimal application.

Sedgewick doctorate at Stanford University under Donald Ervin Knuth. His Ph.D. thesis dealt with the Quicksort algorithm.

He is currently a computer science professor at Princeton University, where he holds the William O. Baker Chair, at the software company Adobe Systems, he serves on the board.
