Robert Sewell (historian)

Robert Sewell (* 1845, † 1925) was a civil servant in colonial India. He is the author of the book A Forgotten Empire ( Vijayanagar ): A Contribution to the History of India. His focus was on the study of the history of Vijayanagar, an existing 1336 / 46-1565 Hindu kingdom in South India, in particular the case of Hampi, the capital of this kingdom.

Sewell also translated The Vijayanagar Empire as seen by Domingo Paes and Fernao Nuniz, eyewitness reports about the kingdom of Vijayanagar India by Portuguese travelers from the 16th century.
