Robert Young (actor)

Robert George Young ( born February 22, 1907 in Chicago, Illinois, † July 21, 1998 in Westlake Village, California ) was an American actor.

Life

Young studied from 1927 to 1931 acting at the Pasadena Playhouse before 1931 in Charlie Chan - Death is a black camel ( The Black Camel ) made ​​his film debut. He had great success in 1940 on the side of James Stewart in Deadly storm and next to Spencer Tracy in the Northwest Passage. 1954 Young moved to television and celebrated from then on great successes as a family man in the series Father Knows Best. From the late 60s, the doctor series Marcus Welby, MD, another perennial favorite was with him in the title role. Private

Robert Young was married from 1933 until her death in 1994 with Elizabeth Louise Henderson. He was the father of four daughters and grandfather of six grandchildren.

In 1991, the alcoholic, Young tried to take his own life with pills. The last with Alzheimer actor died in 1998 of heart failure.
