Roberto Dipiazza

Roberto Dipiazza ( born 1 February 1953 in Aiello del Friuli ) is an Italian entrepreneur and politician of the PDL ( FI to 2009 ) and former mayor of the city of Trieste.

Life

Dipiazza grew up in Trieste. After graduation, he began training as a retail clerk at a local supermarket chain and built by investments in the years to its own retail business on. In 1996, he joined the conservative Forza Italia and won in the same year the election for mayor of Muggia. From 2001 to 2011 he was mayor of Trieste. Dipiazzas first term as Mayor of Trieste (2001-2006) met with Slovenia's EU accession agreement (2004), and he had a significant influence on the associated political and economic opening in the city.
