Roberto Tucci

Cardinal Roberto Tucci, SJ ( born April 19, 1921 in Naples, Italy ) is a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Roberto Tucci resigned after his school years in the Jesuit Order, and received after completing his theological and philosophical studies in 1950, the sacrament of Holy Orders. After further studies, he received his doctorate in Naples for the Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Theology in Rome.

After some years in pastoral ministry, he became editor and publisher of the magazine La Civilta Cattolica and participated as an expert in the Second Vatican Council. As a specialist in Catholic social teaching, he worked as a consultant to the Pontifical Council for Social Issues. From 1961 to 1982 he was Vice President of the Catholic Italian Press Association, in the years 1967 to 1969, he served as Secretary General of the Italian Province of the Jesuits.

1973 Pope Paul VI appointed him. Managing Director of Vatican Radio. Since 1982, Roberto Tucci wore as a Pontifical travel Marshal is responsible for the organization and implementation of all trips abroad of the Pope.

Pope John Paul II took him on 21 February 2001 as a cardinal deacon with the title diakonia of St. Ignatius of Loyola in Campo Marzio at the College of Cardinals. From the canonical obligation of episcopal ordination for cardinals, the Pope dispensed the almost octogenarian. On 21 February 2011, he was charged while maintaining his pro hac vice declared for titular church diaconal titles cardinal priest.
