Region

The city is the capital of Robert Sports Grand Cape Mount counties in the West African Republic of Liberia. The name refers to the first Liberian President Joseph Jenkins Roberts.

Robert Sports is located on the Atlantic Ocean, on a sheltered bay in the Cape Mount Bay with direct access to Lake Piso, the largest lake in Liberia. The village is geographically located in the north-west Liberia, Cape Mount, which reached the Portuguese navigator Pedro de Sintra in 1461 became the first European in his research trip along the Guinea coast. The urban area covers about five square kilometers and occupies the western part of the peninsula. The majority of the area is covered by rain forest, the highest elevation is one of the Mount Wakalor.

The place Robert sport consists essentially of the fishing village Gomboja, the indigenous population belongs to the people of Vai. The place had a military significance for the United States Air Force during the Second World War. The city's main industry is fishing. The harbor bay is too shallow for a modern sea port, so the place was not considered as a trading port for the nearby iron ore mines.

Robert Sport has a charming scenic surroundings and was therefore before the Civil War, a popular beauty spot. In the reign of President William S. Tubman Robert sport was encouraged, it was with the Tubman Center of African Culture also over the border into Liberia's significant cultural center and art museum. The Lake Piso and the surrounding freshwater lakes were reported in 2006 as a nature reserve.
