Robin Scott

Robin Scott ( born April 1, 1947 in Croydon, London ) is a British singer and musician. End of the 1970s, he ended up with the single Pop Muzik under the name "M" an international hit. The song was one of the first commercially successful New-Wave-/Elektropop-Produktionen.

Scott attended the end of the 1960s, the Croydon Art College. At that time he entered London on as a folk singer, and under the title Woman from the Green Grass published his first album. He also belonged some time to firm backing of David Bowie. In the 1970s he produced on his own record label, a number of bands, including Roogalator and Adam and the Ants.

1978 Scott moved to Paris, where it was first published under the name "M " - the name is derived from the signs of the Paris Métro - the single Modern Man. It was not a success. By its second publication, however, he had a worldwide hit. Pop Muzik stormed the UK charts in April 1979 and grew up there in second place. With some delay, the single reached in June 1979 in Germany topped the charts and stayed there for six weeks. Finally managed to "M" in November 1979 also the leap to number one on the U.S. Billboard charts.

This was followed between 1979 and 1982 three more singles and two albums that made "M" but by far was not able to his success with Pop Muzik. A remix of Pop Muzik 1989 reached again the top 20 in the UK charts.

1997 U2 used during their Popmart Tour Pop Muzik as an intro.
