Robin Shou

Robin Shou (Chinese仇云波, born July 17, 1960 in Hong Kong ) is a Chinese - American actor and director.

Biography

Robin Shou is the son of a tailor and a housewife and has four siblings (two sisters and two brothers ). When Robin was 11 years old, he and his family moved to Los Angeles.

At the age of 19 years, Robin began learning the martial arts. He began Kempo Karate, but quickly realized that this was not for him and stopped again. Eighteen months later, he saw a Wu Shu- performance and said, "this is Chinese". He went to China to learn Wu Shu.

Meanwhile, Robin Shou came back to the U.S. to complete his studies in civil engineering. He found that profession too boring and went back to Hong Kong to work, among other things as an actor and stuntman.

In 1994, Robin Shou returned to the USA to start a Import-/Export-Firma when he received a call from his agent that he should audition for the role of Liu Kang ( Mortal Kombat ). He was initially not interested, but yet he went - a short time later, he had the role and became known for this. Robin took over in 1997 in the second part of the video game film adaptation, the role of Liu Kang.

He is also seen in films like Beverly Hills Ninja, Fighting Connection and in the drama Forbidden Nights.

In 2003 he made ​​his debut as a director in his first self-produced film Red Trousers - The Life of the Hong Kong Stuntmen.
