Robson Street

The Robson Street is a major southeast to northwest trending main road through Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The road runs through downtown Vancouver to the West End of Vancouver. Besides its function as the main thoroughfare of the city, it is also an exclusive, popular and expensive shopping street in Vancouver. On the street a number of shops, restaurants and cafe's. The street was named by John Robson, a Canadian politician, journalist and Prime Minister of British Columbia between 1889 bis 1892. He co-founded the Confederation League, which was mainly responsible for the accession of British Columbia to the Canadian Confederation. The Robson Street begins at BC Place Stadium near False Creek and then runs north-west to the Vancouver Library Square, Robson Square and the Vancouver Art Gallery and ends at Lost Lagoon, Stanley Park.

Shopping

Robson Street is the main shopping street in Vancouver. There are several exclusive shops and restaurants in the street. The Robson Street is known to extend for the countless exclusive fashion boutiques of the Granville Street in the southeast to Denman Street in the northwest. The Robson Street connects the Burrard Street Alberni and Georgia Street, on the known exclusive boutiques such as Hermès, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Betsey Johnson, Chanel, Burberry, Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Lacoste, Coach and Salvatore Ferragamo.

In the adjacent Thurlow Street is home to two opposite Starbucks coffee shops is only one smoking free and the other not. The western corner of the street is a popular biker.

Architecture and other attractions

Near Robson Street is home to several skyscrapers, many of which include condos and hotels. The Sheraton Landmark (also known as The Empire Landmark Hotel), has the tallest building with 42 floors. This is also the exclusive Cloud Nine revolving restaurant. At the southeastern end of Robson Street several new skyscrapers arise with apartments near the Yaletown to Granville Mall.

The Robson Street is also issued a popular exhibition space on the predominantly during the summer months on weekends exotic, rare cars and motorcycles.
