Roches-lès-Blamont

Roches- lès- Blamont is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Roches- lès- Blamont is located on 549 m, ​​about 12 km south of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the northern Jura, at the edge of the plateau of the Jura Plateau north of the Lomont above the valley section of the Combe de Vau.

The area of ​​5.44 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the northern French Jura. The main part of the territory occupied by the slightly corrugated board Jura plateau consisting of Sequan and Kimmeridgekalken, which is on average 540 m. With 573 m is reached on the hill north of the village is the highest elevation of Roches- lès- Blamont. The plateau is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. History

The territory of Roches- lès- Blamont was inhabited very early. During excavations traces of a settlement site were found, which was used from the Middle Neolithic to the early Bronze Age.

Roches is first mentioned in the year 1040, when the Archbishop of Besançon Abbey Baume- les -Dames, leaving 14 Churches in the Ajoie. Since the Middle Ages Roches formed its own government, which came to rule Blamont the late 13th century. The local noble family became extinct 1474th After the village had come in 1506 under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard, the Reformation was introduced. Attractions

The Reformed Church of Roches- lès- Blamont was built in the 19th century. In the old town several farmhouses are preserved in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Population

With 624 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Roches- lès- Blamont is one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1901 408 persons were still counted ), a striking population growth was recorded since the early 1970s. Economy and infrastructure
