Rochester is a city in New Hampshire in the United States. It is the largest city in the district of Strafford County, and has 28,461 inhabitants.

The city has an area of 118.6 km ², of which 116.9 km ² land and 1.6 km ² (1.38 %) of water.
Rochester is located in the catchment area of the rivers / streams Salmon Falls, Isinglass and Cocheco River. The highest elevation in Rochester is Nute Ridge ( 177 m ), situated in the northern city.

History
The settlement was founded in Rochester in 1749 and registered in 1778.
On 30 November 2007, a 46- year-old man took several hostages in a presidential campaign office of Hillary Clinton in Rochester, and the venue became known internationally. After six hours, the hostage crisis ended without bloodshed.
