Rockport is a town in the U.S. state of Massachusetts, and has (as of 2010 ) a population of 6,952.
Location
It is located about 25 miles ( 40 km) northeast of Boston, the capital and largest city of the state of Massachusetts and the New England region, on the tip of Cape Ann, near the border with New Hampshire, in Essex County. Rockport is located at the end of a commuter railway line of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Boston North Station via Newburyport Rockport.
Economy
The place is now characterized mainly by tourism, but also from the traditional lobster fishing. In addition, many commuters live to Boston in Rockport, one can therefore be described as " suburb " (suburb) of this city.
