Roda (river)

The Roda is a 33.6 km long, right-side tributary of the Saale in eastern Thuringia ( Germany ).
River
The river rises near Rodaborn north of Triptis and flows through the valleys villages so called ( among other things Renthendorf ) Stadtroda and flows into the Saale in Jena.
Part of the water is processed in the combined cycle power plant Jena -South and used as boiler feed water.
Origin of the name
The river name derive from the Old High German rod or the Middle High German red from. This is the root of, used to date, Middle Low German word clear ( to the roots pay off ).
