Rogale, Gołdap County

Rogale ( German Rogahlen, 1938-1945 Gahlen ) is a village in the northeast of the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and is part of the rural community Banie Masurian ( Benkheim ) in Gołdap powiat ( county Goldap ).

Geographical location

Rogale is located six kilometers south of the Polish- Russian border and is only accessible via main roads: from Banie Masurian ( Benkheim, six kilometers ) to the province road 650 about Kulsze ( Kulsen ) or Bocwinka ( Herandstal, 8 kilometers) above Rożyńsk Maly ( Bergershof ). A rail connection does not exist.

History

In 1818 lived in what was then Rogahlen 93 inhabitants, the number of which, however until 1863 had risen to 317. The rural municipality belonged at the time to the district Darkehmen (1938-1946 Angerapp, today Russian: Osjorsk ) in the district Gumbinnen ( Gusev ) of the Prussian province of East Prussia. 1874 Rogahlen office village was.

In 1910 333 people lived here, whose number in 1925 amounted to 335, to 1933, rising to 403 in 1939 and 344, respectively. Already in 1740 the school was founded in Rogahlen. Later it was divided: in Wittgirren (1938-1945 Witt Bach, since 1945 Widgiry ) students in the Rogahlen the more Masurian dominated villages went to school who were close to the Lithuanian.
