Roger Karoutchi

Roger Karoutchi ( born August 26, 1951 in Casablanca, Morocco ) is a French politician. Karoutchi is currently Secretary of ministerial rank to the Prime Minister for Relations with Parliament.

Life

Karoutchi was born in Casablanca in Morocco and comes from a Sephardic family. After leaving school, studied Karoutchi history and education at the Institut d' études politiques d' Aix -en- Provence. He then worked as a history teacher in 1975, first in Goussainville and then in Paris.

Since his sixteenth year he became politically. He was a member of the Conservative party, Rassemblement pour la République (RPR ). From 1981 to 1986 he was a member of the RPR in the National Assembly. He then worked in the office of the French minister Philippe Séguin and became his office manager, as Séguin was elected President of the National Assembly. From 1997 to 1999 Karoutchi was a member of the European parliament in Strasbourg. After that, he was from 1999 to 2007, succeeding Charles Pasqua senator for the département of Hauts -de- Seine. In the presidential campaign of Nicolas Sarkozy Karoutchi committed very strong; him a close personal friendship with Sarkozy.
