Roger Loyer

Roger Loyer (* August 5, 1907; † 24 March 1988) was a French automobile and motorcycle racer.

Career

Roger Loyer was successfully driven motorcycle racing when he started racing cars after the Second World War. In 1937 he won the Grand Prix for motorcycles in the 250 cc class and 1938 Velocette in the 350 cc class. This season, he finished behind Ted Mellors ( Velocette ), " Crasher " White (Norton ) and Siegfried wishes ( DKW ) Fourth European Championship in this displacement category.

After the war he went 1957-1948 a Cisitalia D46 and moved in 1950 to the works team of Gordini to control their Formula 2 racing cars at national events in France.

Until the mid- 1950s Loyer played sports car racing for Gordini and won the 1953 Coupe du Salon at Montlhery.

His only race in the Formula 1 World Championship he enters 1954 in Argentina, when he drove the Grand Prix in Buenos Aires. The Gordini Type 16 he was forced to retire prematurely the race after a leak in the oil tank.
