Roger Shattuck

Roger Shattuck ( born August 20, 1923 in New York; † December 9, 2005 in Lincoln, Vermont ) was an American literary scholar.

Shattuck studied at Yale University and Harvard University. He taught at the University of Texas and the Universities of Virginia and Dakar, Senegal. His most important works include the cultural and historical exploration of the Belle Epoque ( The Banquet Years ). Great attention was paid in Germany 's cultural history of taboos.
