Rogoźnica, Lower Silesian Voivodeship

Rogoźnica [ rɔgɔʑɲiʦa ] ( German: Groß Rosen ) is a village in the municipality Strzegom ( Striegau ) in the Polish Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

It is located halfway between Strzegom and Jawor ( Jawor ), seven kilometers from the two cities.

Mainly Rochester acquisition of the inhabitants was agriculture and the mining of granite.

Gross-Rosen was a member of the county Schweidnitz. 1933 lived in the village of 1,783 inhabitants; In 1939 there were 1,852.

At the time of National Socialism, in March 1941, established the German Reich on the railway line Jawor - Schweidnitz, near the village of the concentration camp Gross-Rosen with its satellite camps.

After 1990, the granite quarries of Rogoźnica were shut down and declared a monument because of its importance as a place of forced labor concentration camp prisoners.
