Roi Klein

Roi Klein ( Hebrew רועי קליין; born July 27, 1975; † 26 July 2006) was a Major in the Golani Brigade of the Israeli armed forces.

Life

Klein grew up in Raanana. After visiting the Bnei David yeshiva he went to Eli, an Israeli settlement in the West Bank.

His military service he served in the Paratroopers Brigade. Later served as a professional soldier in the small Egoz unit of the Golani Brigade. In the battle of Bint Jbeil during the Second Lebanon War, he died when he threw himself to save other soldiers from his unit on a grenade. Klein was most recently deputy commander of the 51st Battalion of the Golani Brigade ( elite unit of the Golani Brigade ).

Klein was buried on 27 July 2006 in the National Cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He was married and had two children.

Honors

Klein was posthumously awarded the Tapferkeitsmedaillie of Israeli forces, the Medal of Valor awarded. The Roi Klein School in Netanya and the Roi Klein High School in Ra'anana were named after him.
