Roland Benschneider

Roland Benschneider ( born August 22, 1980 in Neuruppin ) is a former German football player.

Career

Clubs

Benschneider learned his craft as a defender in his youth clubs FC Neubrandenburg and Energie Cottbus. For the season 2000/ 01 he moved to the Regionalliga Nord to the club Tennis Borussia Berlin.

Only a year later the tall players moved to the descent of Berlin in the NOFV- Oberliga to Eintracht Trier in the Regionalliga Süd. With this club he already rose in his first season and was in the 2002/03 season in the 2nd Bundesliga regulars.

He changed in the following season 2003/ 04 within the second league to Arminia Bielefeld, where he was a regular player and also climb to the Bundesliga. Coach Uwe Rapolder nevertheless let him go for a transfer of € 200,000 in the direction of the 1st FC Cologne, who had just been relegated from the Bundesliga.

In his third personal advancement 2004/05 season in Cologne but he could not prevail on its intended position of the left full-back and brought it only to twelve missions, where he replaced ten times. The majority of his games he played for the Cologne amateur team.

In the last Premiership season 2005/ 06 Benschneider could play in the first team after he was used early in the season even more frequently in the second team of FC in the Regionalliga Nord. From August 2006, he played for second division side FC Augsburg. Originally limited to one year contract was initially extended for two years in March 2007, in October 2008, finally by a further year to June 2010 - Despite a difficult cruciate ligament injury he had sustained on August 9, 2008 in a DFB cup game and for which he is no longer in service until the end of 2009. For the season 2010/11 he moved to SV Sandhausen in the third league.

Due to his serious knee injuries the past Roland Benschneider ended his active career in the summer of 2011 and finished at the University of Applied Sciences Erding a dual sports management degree program. At the same time he was appointed team manager in September 2011 by the Regional division SV Elversberg. In September 2013, the club announced that Benschneider will operate as Sports Direct of the club from now on. He was, consequently, a new contract until 2016. In January 2014 contract was terminated prematurely.
