Roland Kibbee

Roland Kibbee (* February 15, 1914 in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, † August 5, 1984 in Encino, California ) was an American screenwriter and film producer who often gave his films a touch of humor.

Life

Kibbee began his career as a screenwriter mid-1940s. Among his best known films include A Night in Casablanca ( 1946), The Crimson Pirate (1952 ), southwest to Sonora (1966) and Valdez ( 1971). Until the early 1960s, he was primarily involved in movies, then his focus shifted to television and the production of several television series.

He also wrote for television series, including The Men from Shiloh Ranch and Columbo. Kibbee also developed the series The second man (1959-1961) and It Takes a Thief ( 1968-1970 ).

In 1973, he directed along with Burt Lancaster the thriller The Midnight Man. The production was - apart from a single episode of Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre in 1966 - his only directorial effort.

In the 1982 released movie Blade Runner Kibbee wrote the voice-over text without being, however, for in the credits.

The New York Times recalled in its obituary because he had been in his long career, received three Emmy.
