Roma Downey

Roma Downey ( born May 6, 1960 in Derry, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom) is a British actress and film producer.

Life and achievements

Roma Downey first studied art at Brighton College of Art and graduated with a bachelor's degree. She then enrolled at London's prestigious Drama Studio, where she received her acting training. As a stage actress she played in several classical pieces and toured with the ensemble of the Abbey Theatre by the United States, where she also played on Broadway. Here she was finally discovered in 1991 for television. She played Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the award winning mini-series A Woman Named Jackie, followed by guest appearances in several television series. From 1994-2003 Roma Downey was seen in the role of the angel Monica in the television series Touched by an Angel.
