Romain Pelletier
Romain Pelletier ( born August 22, 1875 in Montreal, † November 24, 1953 ) was a Canadian organist, composer and music teacher.
The son of Romain- Octave Pelletier studied organ and piano with Arthur Letondal and singing and harmony with Achille Fortier. From 1909 to 1951 he was organist at the Church St- Léon, Westmount / Montreal and taught counterpoint, piano and organ at the Institut Nazareth. Among his pupils were, inter alia, Fleurette Beauchamp, Gabriel Cusson, Guillaume Dupuis, Conrad Letendre and Georges -Émile Tanguay. He was a founding member of the Société des artistes de Montréal musiciens.
Pelletier composed motets and organ pieces. He also wrote a biographical article about his father, who was inducted into the Courtes Biographies canadiennes ( Montreal 1952).
Pelletier's brother, cellist Victor Pelletier ( 1881 to after 1953 ) was a musician after 1900, secretary and librarian of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. His brother Frédéric Pelletier was known as a composer and music critic.
