Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cotonou

The Archdiocese of Cotonou (Latin: Archidioecesis Cotonuensis ) is an Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Benin, based in Cotonou.

Forerunner of today's Archdiocese Cotounu is on 26 June in 1883 by Pope Gregory XVI. appointed Apostolic Prefecture of Dahomey, separated from the Apostolic Vicariate Coste di Benin.

On May 25, 1901 by Leo XIII. appointed Apostolic Vicariate of Dahomey and on May 13, 1948 Pius XII. renamed as Apostolic Vicariate of Ouidah.

Raised to an archbishopric on 14 September 1955.
