Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kasama

The Archdiocese of Kasama (Latin: Archidioecesis Kasamaensis ) is a location in Zambia Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Kasama.

History

Pope Pius X founded the Apostolic Vicariate Bangueolo on January 28, 1913 from the Vicariate Apostolic of territory of the Nyassa. On 10 July 1952, she took the name Apostolic Vicariate of Kasama.

With the Apostolic Constitution Cum christiana fides she was raised on 25 April 1959 bishopric. With the Bull Qui altissimi Dei was collected on July 12, 1967 in the rank of Metropolitanerzbistums. In November 1995, integrated four parishes which belonged to the diocese Mpika.

Parts of its territory it lost in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:

  • May 26, 1933 at the mission sui juris Lwangwa;
  • July 10, 1952 at the Prefecture Apostolic of Fort Rosebery.
