Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mombasa
The Archdiocese of Mombasa (Latin: Archidioecesis Mombasaensis ) is located in Kenya metropolitan diocese of the Roman Catholic Church.
History
Forerunner of today's Archdiocese of Mombasa is the diocese of Mombasa and Zanzibar, founded in 1955 from the Archdiocese of Nairobi out. On December 12, 1964, the diocese was by Pope Paul VI. split in the diocese of Mombasa and the Apostolic Administration of Zanzibar and Pemba. On 21 May 1990, the survey was conducted to Mombasa archdiocese by Pope John Paul II
In 1976, the Garissa Prefecture (from 1984 Diocese of Garissa ) was established from the diocese territory. 2000, the Diocese of Malindi was founded. Both dioceses are suffragans.
