Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Windhoek

The Archdiocese of Windhoek (Latin: Archidioecesis Vindhoekensis ) is a location in Namibia Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Windhoek as part of the Roman Catholic Church in Namibia.

History

Established as Apostolic Prefecture of Cimbebasia Inferiore on August 1, 1892, it was renamed on January 10, 1921 to the Apostolic Prefecture of Cimbebasia. On 11 May 1926, the survey was conducted at a Vicariate Apostolic. On April 2, 1959, the dioceses of Bulawayo and Kimberley and the Apostolic Vicariate of Windhoek gave from parts of their territory establishing the Apostolic Prefecture of Bechuanaland. On 14 March 1994, the survey was conducted to the archbishopric of Windhoek with simultaneous appointment of an archbishop and outsourcing part of its territory as Apostolic Vicariate of Rundu.
