Roman Catholic Diocese of Campeche

The Diocese of Campeche (Latin: Dioecesis Campecorensis, Spanish: diócesis de Campeche ) is a location in Mexico Roman Catholic diocese based in Campeche.

History

The Diocese of Campeche was on 24 March 1895 by Pope Leo XIII. nostrorum built with the Apostolic Constitution Praedecessorum out of territory of the Diocese of Yucatán. It was the Archdiocese of Yucatán is a suffragan. Campeche is the starting point of the Christianization of the American mainland in the 16th century. Where the first Christian service was held in the Americas on March 23, 1516 what today commemorated by a stone slab in front of the church of San Francisco.
