Roman Catholic Diocese of Concepción en Paraguay

The Diocese of Concepción en Paraguay (Latin: Dioecesis Sanctissimae Concepionis in Paraguay, Spanish: diócesis de Concepción en Paraguay ) is a located in Paraguay Roman Catholic diocese based in Concepción.

History

The Diocese of Concepción en Paraguay was on May 1, 1929 by Pope Pius XI. out of territory of the Archdiocese of Asunción and the Apostolic Prefecture Pilcomayo erected as a diocese Concepción y Chaco. It was the Archdiocese of Asunción is a suffragan. On March 11, 1948, the Diocese of Concepción y Chaco were parts of its territory from the Apostolic Vicariate establishing Chaco Paraguayo.

The Diocese of Concepción y Chaco was renamed on 16 July 1949 in Diocese of Concepción en Paraguay. On January 21, 1957, the Diocese of Concepción en Paraguay were parts of its territory from establishing the Territorialprälatur Encarnación y Alto Paraná. Other annexations took place on August 2, 1960 establishing the Territorialprälatur Caacupé and on 10 September 1961 establishing the Territorialprälatur Coronel Oviedo. The Diocese of Concepción en Paraguay announced on June 5, 1978 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of San Pedro. A further transfer of territory took place on 28 June 1980 foundation of the diocese Benjamín Aceval.
