Roman Catholic Diocese of Formosa, Brazil

The Diocese of Formosa (Latin: Dioecesis Formosensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in the Brazilian Formosa ( state of Goiás ). It belongs to the diocese and the diocese Luziânia Uruacu to the Ecclesiastical Province of Brasília.

History

The Diocese of Formosa was posted on March 26, 1956 by Pope Pius XII. out of territory of the Archdiocese of Goiás built as Territorialprälatur Formosa. On October 16, 1979, the Territorialprälatur was raised to the bishopric.

On 16 November 2005 Pope Benedict XVI appointed. Paulo Roberto Beloto by the clergy of the Diocese of Marília, who previously spiritual director of the Major Seminary Rainha dos Apóstolos ( Queen of the Apostles ) of the ecclesiastical province of Botucatu had been in Marília, Bishop of Formosa.
