History
The Diocese of Ipil was established on 24 December 1979 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Rerum usu docti out of territory of the Archdiocese of Zamboanga as Territorialprälatur Ipil. The Territorialprälatur Ipil was the Archdiocese of Zamboanga assumed as suffragan.
