The Diocese of Kottar (Latin: Dioecesis Kottarensis ) is a located in India Roman Catholic diocese based in Nagercoil.

History

The Diocese of Kottar was on May 26, 1930 Pope Pius XI. built with the Apostolic Constitution Ad pastoral of cessions of territory of the Diocese of Quilon and the Archdiocese Verapoly a suffragan. On September 19, 1953, the Diocese of Kottar was the Archdiocese of Madurai, is a suffragan.

In the St. Francis Xavier's Cathedral to Nagercoil (formerly Kottar ) is the grave and worship of the beatified on December 2, 2012 Martyr Devasahayam Pillai ( 1712-1752 ).
