Roman Catholic Diocese of Kyoto

The Diocese of Kyoto (Latin: Dioecesis Kyotensis, Japaneseカトリック 京都 教区, katorikku Kyoto Kyoku ) is a location in Japan Roman Catholic diocese based in Kyoto.

History

The Diocese of Kyoto was posted on June 17, 1937 by Pope Pius XI. with the Apostolic Constitution Quidquid ad spirituale out of territory of the Diocese of Osaka built as Apostolic Prefecture of Kyoto. The Apostolic Prefecture Kyoto on July 12, 1951 Pope Pius XII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Inter supremi to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Osaka is a suffragan.

The diocese consists of the prefectures Kyoto Kyoto, Mie, Nara, and Shiga.
