Roman Catholic Diocese of Limón

The Diocese of Limón (Latin: Dioecesis Limonensis ) is a location in Costa Rica Roman Catholic diocese based in Puerto Limón.

History

The Diocese of Limón was born on February 16, 1921 by Pope Benedict XV. built with the Apostolic Constitution Praedecessorum of cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of San José de Costa Rica as Apostolic Vicariate of Limón.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Limón was collected on 30 December 1994 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Cum Vicariatus apostolicus to the diocese and the Archdiocese of San José de Costa Rica is a suffragan. On 24 May 2005, the Diocese of Limón were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Apostolic Constitution Saepe contingit erected Diocese of Cartago.
