Roman Catholic Diocese of Marabá

The diocese Marabá (Latin: Dioecesis Marabensis ) is a location in Brazil Roman Catholic diocese based in Marabá in the state of Pará.

History

The diocese was erected Marabá on July 18, 1911 by Pope Pius X made ​​cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará as Territorialprälatur Santíssima Conceição do Araguaia. The Territorialprälatur was the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará assumed as suffragan. On 16 August 1934, the Conceição do Araguaia Territorialprälatur Santíssima were parts of their territory from establishing the Territorialprälatur Xingu. A further transfer of territory took place on 13 May 1969 on the establishment of the Territorialprälatur São Félix. The Territorialprälatur Conceição do Araguaia Santíssima changed on December 20, 1969 changed its name to Territorialprälatur Marabá. On March 27, 1976, the Territorialprälatur Marabá were parts of their territory from establishing the Conceição do Araguaia Territorialprälatur Santíssima.

On October 16, 1979, the Territorialprälatur Marabá was elevated by Pope John Paul II to the Pontifical Bull Cum Praelaturae to the diocese.
