Roman Catholic Diocese of Nkongsamba

The Diocese of Nkongsamba (Latin: Dioecesis Nkongsambensis ) is a location in Cameroon Roman Catholic diocese based in Nkongsamba.

History

Pope Pius X founded the Apostolic Prefecture of Adamawa on April 28, 1914 annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Khartoum. On June 11, 1923, she took the name, Foumban Apostolic Prefecture on. With the bull Quo apostolicae it was collected on 28 May 1934 in the rank of Apostolic Vicariate.

With the Apostolic Constitution Dum Tantis it was collected on September 14, 1955 in the rank of diocese, which was the Archdiocese of Yaoundé is a suffragan. On March 18, 1982, was part of the new ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Douala.

Parts of its territory it lost in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:

  • May 28, 1940 at the Apostolic Prefecture Berbérati;
  • April 28, 1942 at the Apostolic Prefecture of Niamey;
  • January 9, 1947 at the Prefecture Apostolic of Garoua;
  • January 9, 1947 at the Prefecture Apostolic of Fort -Lamy;
  • February 5, 1970 to the bishopric of Bafoussam;
  • May 26, 2012 to the bishopric of Bafang.
