The Diocese of Saint -Claude (Latin: Sancti Dioecesis Claudii ) is a located in France Roman Catholic diocese based in Saint -Claude.

History

The Diocese of Saint -Claude was built in 1742 by Pope Benedict XIV and the Archdiocese of Lyon is a suffragan. On November 29, 1801 Diocese of Saint -Claude was dissolved and the area was annexed to the archbishopric of Besancon. The Diocese of Saint -Claude was established on October 6, 1822 by Pope Pius VII, with the Apostolic Constitution Paternae charitatis again and the Archbishopric of Besançon is a suffragan.
