Roman Catholic Diocese of Sumbe

The bishopric Sumbe (Latin: Dioecesis Sumbensis ) is a location in Angola Roman Catholic diocese based in Sumbe.

History

Pope Paul VI. founded the bishopric Ngunza with the Apostolic Constitution Dei Qui provido on August 10, 1975 from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Luanda, where it was assumed as a suffragan.

The name of the diocese of Novo Redondo took it on 3 February 1977. On October 22, 2006, adopted the current name.
