Roman Catholic Diocese of Tumaco

The Diocese of Tumaco (Latin: Dioecesis Tumacoënsis, Spanish: diócesis de Tumaco ) is a location in Columbia Roman Catholic diocese based in Tumaco.

History

The Diocese of Tumaco on May 1, 1927, Pope Pius XI. built with the Apostolic Constitution Qui peculiari of annexations of the dioceses Cali and Pasto as Apostolic Prefecture of Tumaco. On November 14, 1952, the Apostolic Prefecture of Tumaco were parts of their territory from establishing the Apostolic Vicariate of Buenaventura. A further transfer of territory took place on April 5, 1954 establishing the Apostolic Prefecture Guapi.

On February 7, 1961, the Apostolic Prefecture of Tumaco was by Pope John XXIII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Regnum Christi Apostolic Vicariate. The Apostolic Vicariate of Tumaco was raised on 29 October 1999 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Carmelitarum Excalceatorum to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Popayán assumed suffragan.
